Back in 2017, Hurricane Harvey stalled over Southeast Houston, causing widespread flooding. At the time, I lived a few hundred miles away, well outside the danger zone.
After experiencing a few scenarios involving floods, I can tell you it’s almost surreal how quickly flood waters rise and how powerless it makes you feel.
Hurricane season is here. For the next months, anyone living along the cost will be watching the weather and checking the National Hurricane Center’s website.
No matter how much flooding they say you should expect, always plan for a little more; something like eight inches more so your home will be protected.
For some, there probably won’t be a return to normal. Those people will end up having to start over, either in the same place or moving somewhere else.
