I had a small cheap binocular that wasn’t so good. When I finally bought a good pair, I was advised to not go above 8 power (and maybe less, because body shaking would interfere with clear sight. I bought it anyway; and the advice I got was correct. What I ended up doing is getting an aluminum pole that could be lengthened or shortened. It was a good pole for camping purposes. It was about 5 feet high, and the extension maybe another 3 -4 feet. The tip was narrow enough to fit between the two lenses, so that I could stand, adjust the length of the aluminum pole (the kind used for washing windows); and it gave me the equivalent of a mono-pod, where I had a clear view in any direction; and much better than a tripod..
